Project Summary

Background

In my spare time, I design and illustrate a fantasy newspaper called FROG, distributed at local Renaissance faires and conventions. I created the brand and all accompanying visuals, collaborating with local vendors and fellow artists who contribute stories purely for the joy of creation. I believe that designers need playful, passion-driven projects like this to keep their creativity, and love for design, alive.

FROG (Factual and Reliable Oasis Gossip) is a playful newspaper brand featuring a mascot named Flippit. I created the paper to help promote booths and shows at Renaissance faires while sharing humorous and entirely fabricated gossip for the enjoyment of the attendees.

Mascots

Flippit & Flobbio

Flippit and Flobbio are the newspaper’s recurring mascots: Flippit, a curious paperboy who’s always listening for the latest gossip, and Flobbio, his strong, knightly cousin who is honor-bound to always tell the truth. They appear throughout the paper to add personality, humor, and narrative charm.
